Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency announces its second clean audit

The MTPA's CEO, Mduduzi Vilakazi, said a second clean audit outcome shows determination and commitment, despite the financial pressures the MTPA team faces.

The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) announced in a statement on August 3 that it had obtained a second clean audit from the Auditor-General for the 2022/23 financial year.

The MTPA’s board and executive management said they were pleased to be able to announce this.
The MTPA is an entity of the Department of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, tasked with the responsibility to provide for the sustainable management and promotion of tourism and nature conservation in the province and to ensure the sustainable utilisation of natural resources.

The board’s chairperson, Victor Mashego, said, “This is a positive milestone for the entity. As the board we are delighted with this achievement, as it confirms our commitment to position the MTPA and further provide confidence on the work that is done by the entity.

“The audit outcome continues to reaffirm the efforts by the board and executive management to maintain the public trust in the utilisation of the public purse. Since the clean audit from the previous financial year, the executive management has worked hard to ensure that internal controls are strengthened. We continue to strive for good corporate governance and financial management.”

“A second clean audit outcome shows the determination and commitment, despite the financial pressures the MTPA team faces. The Auditor-General has commended the executive management for continuing to implement the audit action plans and for ensuring there are even tighter and stricter controls as well as improved internal processes,” said Mduduzi Vilakazi, the MTPA’s CEO.
