Ext 21 development underway in Malalane

The extension will also be the home of an office complex housing several government departments.

The development of 200 community residential units at Ext 21, a new area in town, is currently under way.

The contractor is already on site and has started roofing 40 units, according to the Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlements. “The department has appointed Avax SA 181 and the site was handed over during the 2020/21 financial year just after the announcement of the Covid-19 lockdown. This multiyear project with a total construction cost of over R122m falls under the jurisdiction of the Nkomazi Local Municipality,” said Freddy Ngobe, the spokesperson for the department.

A total number of 200 units, a community hall, a childcare centre and an office complex, are part of the plans in line for Ext 21.

“We aim to develop and stimulate economic growth of the town. In the same vein the municipality has plans to build an office complex which will also house all sector departments. This will make it easier to locate all government departments in one building and enhance the delivery of services to the community of Malalane and Nkomazi as a whole,” said Cyril Ripinga, the spokesperson for the Nkomazi Local Municipality.
