KwaMhlanga content creator bags a nomination in Basadi in Music Awards.

Tshidy Kekana Manganye said she hopes to win the Social Media Influencer of the Year award.

A social media content creator, Tshidy Kekana Manganye, has been nominated for the Social Media Influencer of the Year award in the highly anticipated Basadi in Music Awards 2023.

“I am so excited and honoured by this nomination. This means that people see and appreciate my content on various social media platforms,” she said

Manganye, from a village called Thembalethu in KwaMhlanga, said she is over the moon and hopes to receive the accolade which will be mark the peak of her social media career.

She regards herself as an actress and began posting comedic videos on Facebook and TikTok in 2020 during lockdown.

“People reacted so well and loved the videos. Alongside my fellow actors, I put in more work and creativity to produce trendy and funny skits. I created a Facebook page called Comedy Friday where all the skits are posted.”
In 2022, Manganye auditioned for the popular Ndebele drama series Komkhulu which airs on DStv’s Mzansi Magic.

“Unfortunately, I did not make it through but that did not stop me from being part of the show somehow. I decided to take short clips of it while I watched and posted them on my social media pages. Locals, who don’t have DStv loved the idea and flooded my page every Sunday to watch the show,” she said.

She felt very proud of her culture being portrayed on national TV. The telenovela features IsiNdebele-speaking actors and actresses from various areas around the region of KwaNdebele. The enthusiast also does interviews with some of the actors which she then posts on social media.]

“If the show gets renewed for another season, I will definitely audition again.”

Manganye started her multimedia career as a radio presenter at Emalahleni FM. She then became a voice-over artist, ventured into public relations and finally became a content creator and producer.

“I’ve always been nervous in front of the camera. Some things were really out of my reach because of lack of knowledge. As I grew older, the creativity unleashed and I put myself out there. Now I am reaping the benefits of my creativity,” said Manganye.
