Elukwatini author releases new book about relationships

Tapera Chivhaka's book aims to educate partners about the importance of starting relationships on a strong foundation to avoid social ills such as gender-based violence.

A well-known local author and motivational speaker, Tapera Chivhaka, has released a new book, Mastering Marriage Relationships.

Chivhaka said the book is all about the social problems that befall society, such as gender-based violence, crime and teenage pregnancy.

He said it tackles the issues with which families deal, because of the consequences of them being rooted on an incorrect foundation.

“I grew up in a polygamous family. I observed how my father treated his four wives and us, the children. When I became active in the church, I began to be interested more in the family life department. I have been a speaker in couples retreats, singles retreats and youth conventions. I have since come to the conclusion that a good family foundation will reduce most of problems and challenges such as drugs, crime, teenage pregnancy and more,” he said.

According to Chivhaka, some of the crimes committed are just a projection of how angry people are. “Not because they are poor, but they have never been given love during their young age. The greatest burden a child can carry is the unloved life with their parents. All we see is a projection of parenting gone wrong. That gives me the inspiration to find my voice and contribute to the well-being of society,” he said.

Chivhaka said his motivation comes from the love he has for helping society.
“I also have an organisation called Hope in the Wilderness International. This deals with seminars for couples, singles and young people,” he added.
