Pienaar pastor publishes short motivational book

Pr Gugu Ndukuya said her book, 'Broken But Not Bitter', is targeted at all people and is available for purchase from her.

Pr Gugu Ndukuya from Emoyeni in Pienaar published a book to encourage self-acceptance and for people to learn not to blame other people for their mistakes.

The book, Broken But Not Bitter, is directed at all people, young and old, of any background and experiences.

It was released in May and is a memoir consisting of some of Ndukuya’s life experiences, such as love, marriage and divorce.

“I was inspired by a lot of things that have been taking place in my life. I went in and out of hospitals fighting depression and I blamed all my partners for all the bad things that had happened. My mistake was continuing to point fingers when I was also at fault for the outcome of my life,” she said.

In the book, Ndukuya encourages individuals to do introspection and accept their contribution towards whatever problem they face. “We should not allow broken relationships to make us bitter. I believe we can still love again and find a new purpose for living. Hanging on to what is no more is unhealthy. It will make one feel inadequate and you will ultimately lose trust in God.”

The mother of four explained that her book can help people navigate through life. “Although it took me a long time to compile, it is a very short book and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to read. I did this on purpose, because I want someone to read it and immediately find comfort. This book has only one message; to continue to live with your scars, but not be bitter.”

The release also comes from her passion for religion and motivational speaking. She graduated with a diploma in theology from Harvest Bible College in 2017. Soon after, she founded her church, Grace of God Ministry, in Emoyeni.

She said she is currently embarking on a degree in Christian counselling.
