Born and bred in Nsikazi, Andries Pule, also known as DJ TPZ, is making his hometown known for good music.

One of his hit songs’ music video, “Shona Langa”, has gained popularity countrywide and on the continent. It is currently sitting at one million views, and is increasing every day.

The DJ and producer said a tour around Africa is part of his plans for the future as he believes his fans in other countries would love to hear more of his music.

“This is an Afro house song and features Mr Chillax. We have always toyed with the idea of making music together whenever we met at events. I produced the beat and he jumped in the vocals, and we made a hit.”

The song and the video were released about a year ago.

The success of this song followed another hit single, titled “Ang’zanga Ngedwa”, with Mr Chozen. “The song became a hit all over South Africa and other southern countries after its release in 2018. This is when most people fell in love with my unique house sound.”

Pule has been a music lover from a young age. He said he used to beat tins and buckets when he was a boy, growing up in the lively streets of KaBokweni. “I started my career as a DJ in 2009 and opened my own music production label, Bengatainment, the following year. I produced for various genres such as hip-hop, Afropop and house music. However, one genre, Afro house music, remained closed to my heart. It is my identity as a musician,” he said.

With more than a decade in his career, Pule took pride in being an independent artist, but always aimed to collaborate with others for growth.

“I believe in teamwork, because it is easier to reach whatever goal we are targeting in our music careers. I have worked with some great musicians, such as Zanda Zukuza, Mr Style, Leon Lee and Passion Master.”
