The MEC for health and the City of Mbombela mayor prepare breakfast for patients at Themba Hospital

They visited Themba Regional Hospital to check if the patients are being served proper food in a clean environment.

The MEC for health in Mpumalanga, Sasekani Manzini, with the executive mayor of the City of Mbombela, Cllr Sibongile Makushe-Mazibuko, visited Themba Regional Hospital to monitor healthcare services on Wednesday June 7.

This was an unannounced visit and it came after a social media post that alleged that patients were served bread without margarine.
Manzini and Makushe-Mazibuko dedicated this day to working with the kitchen staff.

According to the Department of Health, they served patients breakfast and ensured the food was stored and cooked in a clean and safe environment. They also got a chance to monitor how the hospital staff prepares for and serves food to patients.

The deputy director general, Dudu Mdluli, and the CEO of Themba Regional Hospital, Thembi Matsinhe, joined them.
