Oakley gospel artist wants to touch lives

Samson Mokoena aims to inspire and encourage people to accept God as their Saviour so they can receive miracles.

A gospel musician, Samson Mokoena (41), also known as Minister S, is set on preaching the gospel through his music.

He aims to inspire and encourage people to accept God as their Saviour so that He can do miracles for them.

Mokoena released his latest singles in February titled “Ngabekezela”, “Ngibambe Ngesandla” and “uJesu Wehla.”

“The song ‘Ngabekezela’ is close to my heart. It is a testimony of how my patience and trust that I put in God worked out for me. God has been especially good in my music career. The ‘Ngibambe Ngesandla’ song is a request to God to hold me in His hand and the ‘uJesu Wehla’ song is about Jesus coming down to save His people,” he said.

Mokoena said he fell in love with singing in church and Sunday school and was always encouraged by community members to venture into a music career as he grew.

“I took those compliments and comments as a prophecy. I love gospel music and it is my calling to share the Word of God. I believe it is God who afforded me the opportunity to share stages with big gospel artists such as Benjamin Dube and Rebecca Malope at some provincial music events.”

In 2018, Mokoena released his debut album, UJesu Uyabuya, which speaks about the coming of Jesus.

“I believe we are living in the last days as portrayed in the Bible. It revealed that there will be false prophets and children who don’t respect their parents. The songs on the album encourage people to seek the precious hand of God and to live in His glory.”

“My music and passion are influenced by these men. Seeing them on perform on stage or on TV, made me believe that I can also be like them,” he said.

Mokoena is currently busy recording his second album, which will have 15 songs.
