KaBokweni amapiano DJ has a bright future

A talented muso, known as Urban Chaos, is ready to outshine others in the amapiano genre.

An upcoming amapiano artist, Phumlani Mbuyane, stage name Urban Chaos, is driven by the love of amapiano and aims to be the best.
Mbuyane recently released a single called “Sultana.”

He said the song is about African women who are proud and confident in their skin. His love of music started when his father gave him his first laptop in 2012. However, his became interested in amapiano in 2017.

“I was at Braamfontein in Johannesburg doing computer science at Rosebank College when I was introduced to the groovy music. I loved making beats especially for hip-hop music with my roommate, who would jump on and start to rap on my beats.”

The 24-year-old said his inspiration comes from a renowned DJ and producer, Kabza De Small, whom Mbuyane believes has played a big role in the amapiono industry.

“I think it is a calling because I always have melodies playing in my mind. I hope to work with Kabza De Small to create amazing music that will rock the world,” Mbuyane said.

In 2020, he released his first single, “Ilockdown Iyasbulala”, which he worked on with local musicians such Magobeka, Shakes Bonjour and Percy. He said the song reached 4 000 downloads in two days of its release.

He said he enjoys making music with upcoming artists like himself including Streys De, Les, T-fade and T-cool.
Mbuyane is currently cooking up an EP, called Trap Ego, on which he worked with a female artist from Tanzania.
