Presenter a princess on the rise in Mpumalanga

Princess Mobeng shares her experiences on her new show called Weekend Midmorning with Princess M.

Barberton Community Radio’s (BCR FM) former presenter, Princess Mobeng, known as Princess M, has recently joined the RISE fm team.
This 23-year-old is the host of the RISE fm Weekend MidMornings with Princess M show. She ushers listeners into the top 30, and it is a great journey of all genres every weekend.

On Sundays, she does another show, a more relaxed one, in which she plays soul and R & B music.
The show sets a tone for the day, when listeners are encouraged to write letters to their loved ones and friends under #ANoteAndSong. They get the chance to share their feelings and experiences, after which she reads the letters on air.

“I love good music and being able to relate and engage with people. I have realised I fit in perfectly on the show. At times we have outside broadcasts, and that puts me right where the people are. I enjoy talking to people and to hear their feedback about our shows. The feedback is so heart-warming, and it gives me that push to keep going. So every time I step into the studio, I know for sure that this has to be me living out my God-given purpose,” said Mobeng.

She said she still remember the first time she hosted her show as if it were yesterday.
” I started working at the radio station in March where I was allowed to stand in for Mpumi Mbethe on the RISE fm Mid-morning Show. On the first day of broadcasting I got the opportunity to do an outside broadcast at the Tshwane University of Technology for a gender-based violence campaign. I was so nervous but somehow I managed to pull through,” she said.

Before this gig, Mobeng had a stint with BCR FM, but within three moths, the station encountered several challenges, which left her unemployed.

“I took a leap of faith and sent my demo to RISE fm, and the rest was history,” she recalled.

In 2020, she was the presenter on the red carpet for the Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards. “Since then, I have covered several events in the province, such as the Fashion Extravaganza, the Mpumalanga Soul Session Experience and a few marathons,” Mobeng said.
Her inspiration comes from her pastor, Richard Wills, who discovered her talent for presenting.

“I am a person who draws inspiration from many things. One thing that has always motivated me is to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday. This goes for every element that makes me; from the way I treat people, up to my attitude towards my career, dreams and goals, straight to having my spiritual life in check.”

Even though she does not have any media and broadcast-related qualifications, Mobeng has armed herself with a public relation qualification.
“I have always wanted to be a newsreader and study towards a journalism qualification. I never thought that I would do radio presenting.
“It always intrigued me, my talent was nurtured and I realised I was good at it. I never looked back since,” said Mobeng.
