According to the hospital’s CEO, Thembisile Matsinhe, it is the responsibility of the hospital to provide services in a hygienic environment.
“February and March were difficult months due to the strikes, which affected many things. We decided to use the initiative to clean up the ground, focusing on the landscape, our corridors, and the residential area of our medical staff. All the services were left unattended for weeks and that caused a delay,” Matsinhe said.

The aim of the campaign is to keep the hospital areas safe and clean for the patients, workers and visitors.
“The public has a different perception of our facility due to the impact of the strike, so we want to use this opportunity by working with other stakeholders. We wish to restore the trust that we are still a safe institution and open to serve the community. We want to instil ownership to the community because this hospital is not for the executive, it is for the people. They must partake by adapting the Department of Health’s campaign, hadza xibendlela xa wena, (love your hospital),” she said.
