KaBokweni locals share art and culture at SaltnPepper Markets

The founder of the SaltnPepper Markets, Tsepo Myele, invited locals to join the upcoming market on Saturday April 8.

The SaltnPepper Markets have contributed massively to the township’s economic growth. The founder of SaltnPepper Markets, Tsepo Myele, said KaBokweni is a community that does not shy away from taking opportunities for growth.

The recent economic turmoil has forced small businesses to remodel their products and marketing. “The markets are a contribution to the growth of local industries, particularly the entertainment industry fueled by tourism,” Myele said.

The social markets have been hosted since 2018 and have become a vehicle of scouting, managing and promoting artists.

“Our social responsibility is to continuously nourish locals with relevant marketing elements and exchange skills and platforms, while creating job opportunities and skills development. We hope to house more creatives and continue to give SaltnPepper patrons the best experiences through our shows, graphics, shoots and public art,” he said.

Myele said the social markets also boost customers in small informal businesses and entrepreneurship. “Young people are now taking chances with their talents and investing more into entrepreneurship. This growth is an indication of how young people are capable and with a little bit of direction, support and access to infrastructure, their businesses can become national brands and significant contributors in our local economy.”
