Emoyeni Church cooks for 50 people every Sunday

With the pastor's leadership, the Holy Ghost Power Church prepares a meal for the less fortunate.

Due to unemployment in the community, a Holy Ghost Power pastor, Fortune Mkhabela from Emoyeni, has started a feeding scheme.

Every Sunday, they cook a meal for underprivileged community members.

On Sunday March 26, the church gathered and enjoyed a meal together.

According to Mkhabela, the project has been ongoing for four years, giving community members proper meals after services. “Some people in my area approached me and shared their challenges. They said they are struggling to make ends meet. Some said they lack means to put food on the table. As a church, we decided to introduce an initiative in which we cook a meal for them. As a pastor, people see you as the solution to their problems. This motivated me to want to do more. Now the project feeds about 50 people every Sunday.

“At first I was the only person who contributed for the food, but by grace now, the church members donate the little they have through cooking and funds. We sometimes donate food parcels to the elders, child-headed homes and single parents in our area,” he said.
