Schools Dance Championships in KaNyamazane to introduce learners to the art form

The first-ever dance competition will take place on Saturday March 18.

Schools within the City of Mbombela are invited to participate in the first-ever Schools Dance Championships.

The competition will be held in the KaNyamazane Community Hall on Saturday March 18. Entry is free.

The founder of the Tesive Group and organiser of the competition, Kede Mkhabela, said the talent show aims to give opportunities to the learners in Mpumalanga.

“This project is targeted at creating job opportunities for the youth of Mpumalanga, with the first instalment focusing on the City,” Mkhabela said.

“Learners who are passionate about dance and are interested in pursuing it as a career, are encouraged to enter. This initiative will help mould their skills into becoming professional performing artists,” she said.

Mkhabela said the long-term goal is to establish an art academy.

“This would be a hub to train dancers in different types of art disciplines and to run workshops with which we can help learn and understand the industry.”
