Mpumalanga DA gears up to host provincial elective congress

The Mpumalanga DA will be the second province to hold its elective congress, after the Free State.

The Mpumalanga DA will be hosting a provincial elective congress at the Olifants River Lodge in Middelburg tomorrow, February 18.

This is part of the build-up to its federal congress in April. Mpumalanga will be the second province after the Free State in which the DA holds its provincial elective congress.

Bosman Grobler, the DA’s provincial chairperson, said, “Hundreds of voting delegates from DA branches across Mpumalanga will gather at the lodge, where they will be tasked with the responsibility of electing new leaders who will lead Mpumalanga for the next three years.”

The leadership positions expected to be filled are as follows: provincial leader, provincial deputy leader, provincial chairperson, provincial deputy chairperson, deputy provincial youth chairperson: administration, deputy provincial youth chairperson: recruitment and campaigns, provincial DA Women’s Network (DAWN) chairperson, deputy provincial DAWN chairperson, additional provincial DAWN members, provincial finance chairperson and non-public representatives to federal council.

Currently, Jane Sithole is the provincial leader. She was first elected in 2014, and unopposed in 2018.

“The DA’s federal leader, John Steenhuisen, will deliver an address that sets out why the general election of 2024 will be important for all South Africa, and why it is crucial for the DA to build on its incredible momentum as we approach this vital crossroads for our country,” Grobler explained.
The party said it would also release a media statement after the election to provide more information.
