Samuel Tsela and his son, Philasande Tsela, have been granted R5 000 bail.

Two of the accused in the brutal murder of little Bontle Mashiyane have been granted bail.

Samuel “Mangebeletane” Tsela and his son, Philasande Tsela, recently filed for an appeal for bail in the Graskop Magistrate’s Court.

Their bail was granted today, February 15.

According to the provincial spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Monica Nyuswa, the court considered all the factors and found that it is in the interest of justice for the accused to be released on bail.

Nyuswa said the father and son were granted R5 000 bail on certain conditions.

“The accused are obliged to attend court until the matter is finalised. They do not interfere with the state witnesses in the matter and they do not threaten their co-accused,” Nyuswa said.

She said the NPA respects the court’s decision.

Bontle was reported missing in April last year and her lifeless body was found mutilated in Mganduzweni outside White River.
