University of Mpumalanga welcomes first-year students

New students are being welcomed to the University of Mpumalanga through an orientation programme.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) began its week-long orientation programme on Monday February 13.
The aim of the programme is to equip first-year students with valuable information about the institution, and to assist them to adapt to campus life.

During the orientation, students have the opportunity to tour the campus, visit various areas within the institution such as the library and the sports fields.

The new students received a warm welcome from vice chancellor Prof Thoko Mayekiso and staff.

“We hope that your years at UMP will determine your future and the role you will play in this country, on this continent and on this beautiful planet.”

The deputy director for the academic support services division, Dr Severino Machingambi, presented the learning and study methods, which will be useful to students.

“At UMP we use a variety of diverse teaching methods and delivery modes to ensure student success,” he said.
The SRC president. Mbongeni Mnisi, encouraged students to take part in activities to improve and develop their social life and well-being during their studies.
