Police search for Nkomazi man and teenager swept away by Mlumati River

Both the victims were last seen by their friends who were with them at the river.

The Mpumalanga police are searching for a man and a teenage boy who disappeared in the Mlumati River.

A man in his 60s, from KaMdladla near KaMhlushwa, was swept away by the strong water current and has not been found yet.

According to a Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the man asked his friend on Thursday February 2 to accompany him to the river where he had set a fish trap.

Mohlala said the other incident took place in Driekoppies. An 18-year-old Grade 12 learner fell into the same river on Sunday February 5.

“The schoolboy and his friend snuck out of their boarding house at Shongwe High School during school hours,” Mohlala said.
