Young beauty elated to wear Miss Pienaar crown

Ahlumile Jojo said she is enjoying being Miss Pienaar 2022/23 and aims to uplift her community

Over the moon to be the township’s new queen, Ahlumile Jojo (20), said she is about to bring change to her community as Miss Pienaar 2022/23.

“By the time the next queen is crowned, I need to have done much for my community. Young women need to find the freedom to express themselves without being silenced, and job opportunities need to be created so that families can be nourished,” Jojo said.

“We cannot wait around for someone to fix our roads, and provide shelter and food. We need to engage with one another to find ways to uplift our community. Hubs that will encourage independence and equality for all need to be developed. Such hubs do not even have to be worth a million,” she said.

Jojo is also an advocate for female empowerment. “For a long time, some women in Pienaar have been subjected to inequality and gender-based violence. I believe we are the generation to change the scope. Girls and women need to know that independency is important and that they can do anything they set their minds to.”

She said her reign as Miss Pienaar so far has been an amazing journey. “We have done a lot with the Miss Pienaar organisation, but I made a personal vow that I take part in uplifting the community,” she said.

The stunning and bubbly model said she had entered Miss Pienaar with the confidence that she would win. Today, she wears her crown with the same confidence.

“Some may call me an overconfident girl, but being this way has afforded me most of the things I want. This is something some of my peers lack. I want girls to know they must be proud of themselves and have confidence,” Jojo said.
