The couple have been identified and are survived by their two children, who one was saved by the mother and the other who was at school.

The Calucutta police in Bushbuckridge are investigating an arson case after a couple, Nini Banda and Ernest Sithole, had burnt to death in their home in Oakley near Mkhuhlu. The house was set ablaze on Wednesday February 1.

According to the neighbours, the mother managed to save her one child by throwing her out of the window before the house was engulfed in flames.

Their older child was reported to be at school during the devastating ordeal.
