Mpumalanga agriculture and rural development welcome assistant practitioners

Hundreds of these practitioners will be placed in various districts within the province for a variety of services.

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (Dardlea) recently officially welcomed hundreds of newly appointed assistant agricultural practitioners (AAPs).

Dardlea’s spokesperson, Zanele Shabangu, said, “Our farmer support, extension and advisory services in Nkangala, Ehlanzeni, Bohlabela and Gert Sibande districts were appointed through an induction.

They are agricultural graduates who will help augment the manpower and bridge the gap in extension services for Mpumalanga farmers.

“The graduates, under the employ of the national Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, will also give all farmers access to advisory and technical services, from subsistence, smallholder and even commercial level. Their induction concentrated on various Dardlea programmes, including fundamental employee conduct, especially on extension and advisory norms and standards.”
