KaNyamazane’s Kevin Nkosi excels in matric results

A hard-working teen achieved distinctions in all of his seven subjects.

Maintaining discipline and staying on schedule are essential strategies for acing matric. These are the words of 17-year-old Kevin Nkosi, who put his school on the map.
Nkosi, a former member of the representative council of learners and a top achiever of Sitintile Secondary School in KaNyamazane, obtained seven distinctions in mathematics, physical science, accounting, life orientation, life science, English, and Siswati.

He said he had been under a lot of pressure, but with everyone’s support, he was able to thrive.
“The year had lots of work that needed be done in a short space of time. With all the hard-working teachers and support from my family and friends, I was able to do well and make my family and school proud.”
Nkosi said the frequent studying and practising with an e-learning tablet really helped him.
“I developed a routine that was extremely helpful in managing my time. I took advantage of all the school’s extra classes. The tablets really helped me to obtain old exam papers to use, and I was able to study, especially during load-shedding.”

He said he had had no social life. “Having to study long hours and waking up in the early hours of the morning without getting enough sleep, was sometimes difficult.
I had to get to school before 07:00 from Monday to Saturday to make sure I was always ahead. My family are very proud of me, they are all happy for me, and I thank God for what I have achieved.”
Nkosi said the road now leads him to the University of Cape Town (UCT).
“I have been admitted to study BCom Accounting at UCT. It has always been my dream to become a chartered accountant (CA). I will pursue other qualifications after I get admitted as a CA.”
