Young Pienaar model empowered to give

Nompumelelo Michelle Mdluli prides herself in uplifting her community while pursuing her passion for modelling.

“Being a giver is something you do willingly without expecting something in return,” said the current Miss Youth Unified Mpumalanga, Nompumelelo Michelle Mdluli (26).

She is an avid giver to the community of Pienaar. “Giving is personal. This means you need to open your heart and make time to volunteer in community organisations such as old age homes, schools and orphanages. It warms my heart to see happy people,” said the elegant Mdluli.

She has managed to align her passion for giving with her careers in fashion, modelling and being a boilermaker.

“Some people often say if you love something, you will make the time for it. Nowadays, being a public figure through pageants requires one to be in constant interaction with one’s community. Pienaar is a slow-developing township and most families are struggling to sustain themselves. I have managed to donate basic needs to most community organisations, to uplift young people through talk sessions and to help keeping the community clean,” she said.

Mdluli said her modelling journey began in preprimary and she has worked hard at it to have six titles to her name. She said winning Miss Youth Unified Mpumalanga was a dream come true, and that it is a great platform to continue uplifting her communities.

“Of course, life has changed since the crowning in December, but my dream remains to motivate young people to put God first to achieve their dreams and goals,” Mdluli said.
