Local gospel artist gives Christmas food parcels to families in Mahushu

An event was held to hand over food parcels to beneficiaries.

As a way to give back to his community, gospel artist Sidwell Mathebula recently donated Christmas food parcels to those in need.

In an event held at Mtimba Primary School in Mahushu, there were 30 beneficiaries who received the parcels. According to Mathebula, he chose to do this because he is part of this community and he knows what it feels like to go without.

“The thought to give back to my community crossed my mind and stayed in my heart – that is when I decided to do something. I bought food parcels for the families who are struggling to make ends meet. I wanted them to have something to eat on Christmas, just like everyone else. I was once in a situation on Christmas Day in which we had nothing to eat at home, so I wanted to make a difference for others.”

Mathebula said he received assistance from locals to identify underprivileged families. “I chose to ask community members for help, because these people know those in need. They identified the families and I prepared the parcels.”

He said he wants to bring hope and encourage community members to not give up regardless of their situation.
