The Department of Health issued a statement following recent media reports alleging that it has a condom supply issue in the province.

On Thursday December 29, the Mpumalanga Department of Health released a statement in which it dismissed media reports alleging that there is a shortage of condoms in the region.

The MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, said she was concerned about this false and misleading information by the online news agency.

“The shortage of condoms in the country was experienced due to the fact that suppliers did not have stock, due to the effects of Covid-19. However, in Mpumalanga, we were not affected by those shortages, they were available at all our secondary sites. The department can confirm that the province has stock at all our health facilities, including buffer stock at our condom warehouses.”
