Pienaar fine artist lives for a life of colour

Tebogo Shakoane is a passionate painter who wishes to pass on her skills one day.

Tebogo Shakoane, also known as Kiki the Creative, lives for colour and aesthetics.

She is a fine artist, interior decorator and graphic designer from Pienaar.

The gorgeous and vibrant Shakoane has always enjoyed art from a young age and has used it to portray her feelings and surroundings.

“I can say that my journey in arts began when I was in preprimary. I always enjoyed the drawing and colouring, cutting and pasting more than the theoretical parts of academics. I have been into art all my life and it is the only thing I can do. I love art because I believe it chose me,” Shakoane said.
She said she was able to pursue a career in arts due to her parents’ support.

“My parents never complained while they put me through Damelin’s art school in Mbombela after I matriculated. They gave me the opportunity to break the stereotype that there is no money in the arts. Although my market is not as saturated as I would like it to be, there is life, because also it is my passion,” she said.

Shakoane is venturing into growing her brand called Limitless Arts to absorb young and old artists so that they can make a living off their passion.

“I want to grow my brand to be a creative hub that will offer self-employment opportunities for creatives. We can paint together and sell our pieces together. I am still establishing ways on how to start the hub,” she said.

“The aim of the hub will be to play a role in the tourism industry and develop the art culture in Mpumalanga. I want those who eat and breathe art like myself to be passionate about their work.”

She added that she believes the hub will be one of the best in providing skills development for young creatives, too.
