Four arrested for suspected stolen mineral bearing stones near Ermelo

The accused were nabbed in a joint operation and they made a brief appearance court.

Four Zimbabwean nationals were remanded in custody following their brief appearance in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday November 30, for possession of suspected stolen mineral bearing stones.
The accused were nabbed in a joint operation between the police and the local security company.

”Terrance Masungu (23), Norman Chapu (24), Blackie Vembo (25) and Bryn Moyane (21) were found with 10 bags containing chrome bearing stones allegedly stolen from the stationary goods train in the Davel area. They could not give the valid reasons on the origins of the stones and they were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property,” said a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

After their first court appearance, the matter was postponed to Thursday December 8 for the services of an interpreter.

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has commended the team work displayed by both the police and security guards.
