Department of Agriculture trains Nkangala District advisers about smart agriculture boxes

The Nkangala District's advisers and officers were trained about the use of climate change-friendly smart agriculture boxes so that they can share this knowledge with the beneficiaries.

The agricultural advisers and environmental officers in the Nkangala District had a much-needed opportunity to train how to utilise climate change-friendly smart agriculture boxes in the Mdala Environmental Centre on Saturday November 19.

The Department for Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (Dardlea) said these participants got to be equipped with the necessary skills regarding these boxes and the organic growing medium compost they use.

Dardlea’s spokesperson, Zanele Shabangu, said, “These climate change-friendly smart agriculture boxes will soon be distributed to deserving beneficiaries when the programme is rolled out, who will be able to produce their own food in a smart way. In actual fact, the boxes are made from recycled polypropylene, making them good for both indoor and outdoor use.”
