The MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba, undertook an examination monitoring at Masilela Secondary School in Dwarsloop, Bohlabela District, on Tuesday November 22.
He was accompanied by a member of the mayoral committee for social services for the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Cllr Virginia Mdziba.
The Grade 12 candidates were writing Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, Xitsonga and Tshivenda as part of the ongoing 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination.

The department’s spokesperson, Jasper Zwane, said, “Masilela Secondary School is a well-performing school and has obtained a 91.1% pass rate in 2021. The school intends to obtain a 100% pass rate this time around.”
According to him the examination is progressing very well so far. The NSC examinations will progress until December 7.

The marking of exams will start on December 9 in 19 centres spread throughout the province.
The handing over of a bursary from the department and a brand-new car to the provincial top learner will be held on January 20, when the results are announced.
