Fashion extravaganza in Mbombela this weekend

Local creatives will showcase their fashion collections during the Mpumalanga Fashion Extravaganza.

Fashion enthusiasts and icons in the province and surrounds will gather for the fourth annual Mpumalanga Fashion Extravaganza (MFE).

At least 15 local designers are set to showcase their unique collections. These include Meezy and Tetelo, Moosh, Nontobeko Zitha, Portia Nxumalo, Sunday, Samu Khoza, Selina Mabone, Noxolo Malwane and Irvin Dee.

The runway will be set at BMW Mbombela on Saturday November 26. The show aims to promote, market and exhibit local talent in fashion modelling and art.

One of the organisers, Nathi Bless Shongwel, said this is a celebration of the survival of the fashion industry post the devastating Covid-19 pandemic.

“We will be commemorating the industry’s heroes and heroines who have fallen during the sad times of the pandemic. The textile and design sector suffered a great loss for the past two years when there were no production and very limited opportunities since events and gatherings were prohibited,” Shongwe said.
