EFF adopts matric learners of Phola Secondary

The party's Mpumalanga leader donated vital necessities to the learners for their current exams.

Before the start of the 2022 matric examination last week, the Mpumalanga EFF adopted Phola Secondary School, situated just kilometres away from Hazyview.

The party’s provincial leader, Collen Sedibe, who visited the school on October 27, donated R20 000 to go towards buying food for the 90 matric learners who will be camped in the school for the duration of the examination.

Furthermore, Sedibe donated sanitary pads to the female learners, toiletries and sleeper couches, since the learners will be sleeping at the school for the month-long exam period.

“Any country that does not invest in the future of its youth, is doomed to failure. This is the reason we are here today, to encourage you, to support you and above all to show you that we care about your future.

“The reason why we are donating all these things to you, is because we don’t want you and your parents to worry about the things needed while you are here attending your camp. We just want you to focus all your energies on your books and nothing else,” said Sedibe as he addressed the Matric Class of 2022.

The matric final exanimation got under way on Monday, with all registered full-time Grade 12 learners sitting for English home or second additional language as part of the 2022 National Senior Certificate examination.

The province has registered a total of 71 582 learners who are to write in 566 examination centres.

This number is the biggest in the history of writing such an examination in the province.

“The examination is the culmination of 12 years of learning. This is the time to make all these years count. It’s not going to be easy, given the challenges you had had to face since the beginning of the year, such as load-shedding, but keep the faith and continue working hard until the final paper,” said Sedibe.
