Mbombela’s young songstress drops debut EP

Nomcebo Nkosi dropped her first ever EP this month with six afropop songs.

Ecstatic about her debut EP that came out this month, Nomcebo Nkosi cannot stop talking about her special masterpiece.

Nkosi, stage name Lea Heavens, said the EP is titled “Bengiwrong” and contains six Afro-pop songs. “The project is about love, parents and mostly female empowerment. I cannot wait to release it. The EP will be available on all digital music platforms from October 14,” Nkosi said.

The EP follows the first two singles that she believes were a success and a motivation to not give up on her music career.

“I have always loved singing. My interest in music has grown so much over the years. I started recording in 2019 and managed to release my first single titled ‘Hamba’. I loved the feeling of having my music enjoyed by people, and it gave me a sense of belonging in the local music industry. I kept the momentum going and released my second single titled ‘Impilo yam’ in 2020,” she said.

Nkosi said “Hamba” is about female empowerment and “Impilo yam” is a remix of the well-known traditional gospel song “Uzuyigcine impilo yam”, which was her father’s favourite.

The 23-year-old musician said being an Afro-pop artist has allowed her to express her thoughts and emotions in a better way after having lost her father in 2016 and her mother last month.

“I feel free when I am singing, and the world seems so heavenly through music. I have to say, music has healed me and allowed me to see life in a better perspective.”

Nkosi said her zeal for music was influenced by her parents, and dedicated the project to them.

“My father used to sing at church and he taught me a few things about music. My mother was my biggest supporter and always motivated me to follow my passion for music. I lost an angel, but I believe she is rooting for me wherever she is,” she said.
