Pienaar artist sets stage for local festival

The King Lusi Festival will take place this weekend on October 22, and will feature upcoming musicians and DJs.

Gqom and house musician Malusi Mthunywa has set the stage to uplift other local musicians through his music festival that will take place this month.

The singer and songwriter, mostly known in his music community in Msogwaba as King Lusi, is on his way to break through the music industry and is vying to be one of Nsikazi’s greatest.

Mthunywa said the festival named after his stage name, King Lusi Festival, is a start to many initiatives to allow local artists to market their music and brands.

“This inaugural annual event aims to invite young and upcoming artists and DJs to showcase their talent in music for free. Music lovers can enjoy unique music from local creatives. I believe it will be a successful one because a lot of people have shown interest,” Mthunywa said.

“Some of the local artists who have confirmed to perform are Happy Boy, Jeje07 and Ndovela, Boet Jay, Insufility, Diego, Prince Tweezy, Prince Tee, Kaydanota and Silver Steel. More artists are still registering to perform and some will be announced prior the event. DJs on the decks will be DJ Tevin, Dj Robert, Ben SA, DJ Two-short and Toxide DJs and the MC for the day will be the beautiful and bubbly Asebeautiful Destiny Msibi,” said Mthunywa.
