Young woman impacts others through her foundation in KaBokweni

Karabo Ngobeni's foundation is aimed at uplifting young girls, such as the recent donation of dignity packs to schoolgirls.

The girls of Ngazi Ndhlovu Secondary School were delighted when the Karabs N Foundation in KaBokweni donated 100 dignity packs to them on Thursday September 22.

The Karabs N founder, Karabo Ngobeni, said the donation was part of the programmes available within the organisation, and also to give the schoolchildren access to information.

“Advocate Faith Phala of the Department of Justice gave a presentation on law and order and Pr Nomthandazo Ndlovu passed on a few words of encouragement that inspired the children and gave them hope,” Ngobeni said.

The foundation is operational within the Malekutu community with three adopted schools, and it is building relationships with churches, local businesses and organisations to lend a hand in achieving an uplifted community.

“We are an non-profit organisation passionate about long-term solutions and ripple-effect project results. Its primary focus is youth and children empowerment, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Our focus is on youth mentorship programmes, school uniforms, support programmes for vulnerable children, basic needs support to disadvantaged families, access to information, and sports development,” Ngobeni said.

Founded in 2021, the foundation has run its programmes successfully.

“As we celebrated our first June 16 event as an operating organisation, we received more than 100 beneficiaries from local schools and other organisations. We donated full school uniforms, sanitary towels, clothing and 30 tracksuits for children living with disabilities,” Ngobeni said.

She said the past 12 months have been a great start in achieving some of the objectives set out from when the organisation was found.

“We have realised that it takes courage to drive all dreams to have a realistic outcome. Having the interest to serve has given our foundation a day to day responsibility to scout and network with people who can contribute in shaping one’s life, redirecting lost hope and creating opportunities. Our hand has been stretched to the extent of raising, mentoring business entrepreneurs to grow and contribute in fighting poverty and unemployment in our society,” Ngobeni said.
