Many sport lovers wish to see him featured in the national team, and now he has the opportunity to play for Bafana Bafana, which will face Sierra Leone and Botswana in two friendly matches during this upcoming FIFA weekend break.

Buthelezi has been a gem to watch after he had amassed six clean sheets in eight matches and only conceded three goals. He is continuing his good record of the previous season, when he had eight clean sheets in 11 matches.

Buthelezi, reacting to the national call-up, said he was happy to be part of the national team for the first time in his career and this will motivate him to work even harder.

“I am honoured to be selected to represent my country. I want to thank my teammates as well as my coaches. They have been crucial to my success. I’m grateful for their assistance. I also want to express my gratitude to the chairperson of the team for this chance,” he said.

“I honestly anticipated being called up to the Bafana Bafana squad, but that doesn’t mean I would have been worried if I was not selected. With my performance, I’m pleased. All the positive things will stick with me if I remain consistent. Everything in life has its time, and today, in my opinion, it is that time.”
