Secunda beauty queen aims for her 34th title

Pertunia Sibanyoni is excited to be a finalist for Mrs Africa 2023 and ready to take on the responsibility that comes with the title should she win.

From the start of her journey in 2018, beauty queen Pertunia Sibanyoni has managed to nab over 30 titles and aims to add more to her name, such as Mrs Africa 2023.

A career-driven mother, wife and pageant queen, Sibanyoni is the perfect example of women being able to do it all. She said having a support structure is the key to achieving one’s dream.

Obtaining so many titles in five years, including Mrs Regency International South Africa, was almost a breeze for her, but most of all, she sought a platform to contribute to women’s empowerment.

Her first pageant was Mrs Spring Beauty in her home town, Secunda, in which she was crowned the first runner-up. She has grown massively in the pageantry industry and has managed to keep at it constantly, juggling her successful career as an academic and a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Professionals.

Sibanyoni said being a finalist in the Mrs Africa 2023 competition has been a light towards the direction of her goals.

“I entered for Mrs Africa because I wanted a platform to demonstrate to the women of the African continent that they are still destined to be queens despite their troubled past. To instil the belief that they can still prioritise repairing their crowns, seizing their thrones, expanding their empires, discovering their life’s purpose and regaining their dignity in our society,” Sibanyoni said.

Winning the title will also provide her with a platform to influence the youth of South Africa and Africa.

“I have witnessed that most young people are vulnerable to the adage that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. The title will allow me to influence them with life-changing skills, workshops and mentorship programmes.”

Sibanyoni highlighted that the Mrs Africa organisation aligns with her life’s mission “to transform the steady erosion of women’s dignity into a modern population of God-fearing women, and to further transform the youth of this country to be productive and optimistic individuals. My life motto is a quote from Corrie Ten Boom: ‘The measure of life is not its duration, but its contribution.'”
