Mpumalanga EFF retains Sedibe as party leader

Collen Sedibe was overwhelmingly retained by EFF faithfuls, giving him the helm of this rapidly growing organisation in the province and country again.

The Mpumalanga EFF’s chairperson, Commissar Collen Sedibe, was re-elected as the new provincial party leader during the third Provincial People’s Assembly (PPA) at the Nutting House Lodge.

The PPA was held over the weekend of September 16 to 18 and saw over 700 delegates in attendance, electing new provincial leadership.

Sedibe was elected alongside Rhulani Qhibi as deputy chairperson, Jackson Malatjie as provincial secretary, Ntsako Mkhabela as deputy secretary, and Nomaswazi Nkambule as provincial treasurer.

“First and foremost, allow me to express my gratitude and appreciation to the commander-in-chief and president of the EFF for his continued wisdom, guidance and leadership.

It is through his leadership, commitment and love for our people that the EFF is the only weapon in the hands of the dejected masses, the homeless, the hopeless youth, the rural and urban poor, the informal settlement dwellers, and the unemployed and underemployed.

“It is through his dedication, fearlessness and a sense of obligation towards the generational mission that the EFF is a living organisation with branches and members in every corner of Mpumalanga, in Nkangala, Bohlabela, Gert Sibande and Enhlanzeni,” said Sedibe in his acceptance speech.

Sedibe said the organisation needs disciplined, dedicated and hardworking leaders. “We must not pretend to work hard, but actually work hard. We must be selfless and loyal to the generational mission of economic freedom in our lifetime. The hard work starts today,” he said.

Sedibe said their main prize was the 2024 general elections. “2024 is around the corner. If you check properly, we don’t have much time. 2024 must change the course of Mpumalanga. We have been in opposition benches as the main opposition party and we have learnt what is there to be learnt.

The time has come for us to now move into governance. But to govern, we need solid structures on the ground that will have dependable and disciplined fighters. That is why the hard ground work must start today,” he said.
