The academy’s Eddy Bhila said it was a difficult and exciting competition.According to him, they watched a lot of players growing and improving their skills.

“Looking at the top three winners in the Prestige category, Nkambule made it through because of his confidence – even if he lost some of the games, he never gave up. Tholo proved age was no factor when it came to chess, because though he is elderly, he never gave up. Phiri’s performance is what carried him through.

“In the Section A (Junior), Nkosi won all his 14 rounds in the game and was consistent throughout the league. Jameson kept going. He only lost one game against Nkosi. Macanja made it to the top three by working hard, we saw a lot of improvement in this player, and that is what got the prize.”

Bhila said he would like to thank everyone who participated, supported and sponsored the league.

“We appreciate everyone who played a role in this league. To our sponsors, it would not have been possible without you at all.”
