Miss eKasi 2022 crowned

The eagerly awaited annual event, Miss eKasi, recently crowned a new queen.

Miss eKasi 2022 was crowned in a glitzy ceremony in the Embalenhle Sasol Club’s dining hall on Saturday August 6. The lovely young lady who took the crown is the 23-year-old Buhle Mahlaba from Embalenhle Ext 8.

The eKasi queen walked away a contract with LN Models, a contract with Tswelopele Clothing, a portfolio shoot with Pixels Photography, hair from Intokazi Hair Palace and other small goodies such as books and cosmetics.

The first princess title went to Thandolwethu Masseque, and Kelly Dune was second princess.
During her reign as Miss eKasi 2022, Mahlaba plans to advocate for people in society who are different and to help them realise that their voices matter. “I have mixed emotions, because it still feels like a dream, but besides that I feel so honoured to be the one considered fit enough to fill the role of the Queen of eKasi.

“I am planning to open a modelling class with which I will instil confidence in young girls. I will be teaching them how to walk the walk and how to talk, because it is very difficult for some ladies. When they enter competitions, they do not know what is required from them. I want to teach them that beauty pageants are not just about the outside beauty, but mostly about how beautiful you are on the inside,” she said.

She said she wants to encourage young girls who want to join beauty pageants to believe in themselves and be consistent in order to win these competitions.
