There were both tears and laughter as the award-winning actor, playwright and director, Mncedisi Baldwin Shabangu, was laid to rest on Saturday at the KaNyamazane Alliance Church of South Africa. He died on Sunday July 24.

Friends, family, several institutions and well-known actors attended this funeral.
Shabangu cut his teeth in theatre in the early 1990s.
A stage giant of note, he wrote, directed and acted in a number of stage plays.

During the service, the mourners shared touching stories about Shabangu. His children described him as a good father.
Lindo Shabangu, his daughter, said her father touched a lot of hearts.
“He was entertaining father. He loved cooking for us and we enjoyed his meals.”
