Police officer allegedly kills three family members at KaMajika

The three victims were shot during a family meeting at the policeman’s home, which he stormed out of and returned to with a firearm.

A police officer allegedly killed his wife and her two sisters at KaMajika near Hazyview on Sunday April 30. According to a close family member, the incident occurred at the couple’s house around 08:30, as the two siblings tried to assist the couple to resolve their issues.

“The police officer was not happy with some of the responses and he stormed out of the meeting and went to his room, only to come back with a gun. He shot his wife and the two men. They were certified dead on the scene,” said the family member.

The suspect handed himself in at Hazyview Police Station, where he remains in custody.
The matter was referred to the provincial Hawks for investigation. The spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Hawks, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said she is gathering additional information before she can comment.
