Department of Agriculture spreads the good news with Smart Agriculture Boxes

The department recently approached two churches to introduce them to this climate change-friendly way of planting vegetables. The results spoke for themselves.

encouraging them to use whatever space available in their yards to plant and grow vegetables that will help benefit the needy in their vicinity though food security.

The Presbyterian Church in Matsulu A and the Assemblies of God in Elukwatini near eManzana both received Smart Agriculture Boxes to assist them to produce vegetables in a climate change-friendly and smart way. Representatives from both churches were shown how the boxes are managed, assembled and dismantled, including taking care of the crops and how compost is applied.

The testing of the Smart Agriculture Box’s effectiveness inside the tunnels at the Amsterdam Environmental Centre has proven to be a fruitful exercise. The vegetables planted about a month ago using the organic compost produced at the centre look amazingly healthy, with no pests whatsoever.

This can safely lead to a conclusion that these boxes also work wonders and produce amazing yields inside tunnels.
