Its official-IAGR2023 Conference to be held in Gabrorone Botwsana

Nigeria enters into a deal with E-Tech to streamline its tax collection system to benefit from improved regulation of online gambling activity.

2023 looks to be an exciting year for the African continent, as Jason Lane, the President of the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) and CEO of the Jersey Gambling Commission, recently announced that they will be hosting their annual conference in the Botswanan capital of Gaborone.

As we’re nearing the end of 2022, plans for big events within the iGaming sector for the next calendar year are well underway. Indeed, IAGR2023 is most definitely a conference on the ‘not to be missed list. With regulators, industry stakeholders, and of course, veteran affiliates such as Zebra Casino will definitely be attending.

IAGR2022 – A Huge Success

The dates and the theme of IAGR2023 are yet to be confirmed, but there is no doubt that the agenda will be dynamic and highly stimulating, especially if the success and positive feedback from IAGR2022 is anything to go by.

Having just wrapped up the 2022 IAGR conference in Melbourne, which was in partnership with hosts the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC), it is crazy to think it’s already time to plan the agenda for 2023. IAGR2023 was an impressive event that saw around 250 participants, including regulators, industry stakeholders, and thought leaders coming together to discuss developments within this highly dynamic and lucrative sector.

With reference to the 2022 event, Lane said he considered IAGR2022 the best conference to date thanks to the outstanding program of speakers who presented a broad range of industry insights, fascinating research, and findings of innovative practices for the receptive audience of attendees.

Recap of IAGR2022

If the COVID-19 pandemic taught us one thing, it was how to embrace technology in ways that could break down the barriers presented by geographic distance. In the case of the 2022 IAGR conference, this means that anyone who was unable to travel all the way to Melbourne for the event was still able to access the conference, thanks to the availability of digital tickets.

Moreover, even if you didn’t see the events live, the digital resources available allow interested parties to access the content of the 4-day conference via recordings made at each session. These digital tickets are priced at USD 495 for IAGR members and USD695 for non-members and can be purchased via the IAGR website

The IAGR2022 Conference agenda featured about 40 industry experts and panelists discussing a whole host of pertinent issues relevant to those operating in the iGaming space. Prominent at the IAGR2022 speakers included:

  • Michael Morton – Senior Policy Counsel of the Nevada Gaming Control Board – speaking about Esports
  • Christina Thakor Rankin from 1710 Gaming Ltd talking about why the Women’s World Cup 2023 will be the biggest betting event ever
  • Fran Thorn from the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission speaking about setting a higher standard for Victoria’s gambling industry
  • Tom Mungham, CEO of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, speaking about gaming regulatory reform.

Looking Forward To IAGR 2023

At the end of the day, the incredible success of IAGR 2022 in Melbourne, Australia, demonstrates why this is an event that shouldn’t be missed.

Despite the accessibility that is provided by the advanced nature of technology, there is nothing quite like attending a conference and networking event like this in person, so it would be a good idea to get planning that trip to Gaborone for 2023! No doubt this is expected to be an exciting event for the iGaming community.
