Nelspruit deputy sheriff shot and killed

It was reported that the woman, deputy sheriff of the Nelspruit Sheriff's office, had been shot in Nelsville on Thursday October 20.

Nelspruit deputy sheriff Michelle Jones was killed and her partner critically injured in a shooting in Nelsville last night, October 20.

It has been alleged that Jones, her partner and a third person were walking to a nearby shop in the area when a man shot at them at around 20:00.

The pair were rushed to hospital where Jones was pronounced dead and her partner reportedly remains in a critical condition.

A family member of Jones’ partner, who did not want to be named for fear for their life, confirmed the shooting, but added that further detailed information was prohibited based on the police’s advice.

The family member said the shooting was related to a house dispute; tragically, Jones died as a result of her wounds.

It was reported by the family member that the third person managed to flee and fears for their safety.
