Schools in Gert Sibande and Nkangala District to participate in Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Campaign

Rhandza XiKolo Xa Wena Campaign seeks to address most of the negative challenges experienced at schools by mobilising communities to own and safeguard their respective schools.

The Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Campaign will take place in almost all schools in Gert Sibande and Nkangala districts on Thursday July 28.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education made the announcement on Wednesday July 27.

Department of Education (DoE) spokesperson Jasper Zwane said the aim of this initiative is to condemn all forms of social ills that find their way to schools, such as bullying, corporal punishment, drug trafficking and gangsterism.

“It intends to ensure that communities take care of schools, assist in the rehabilitation of broken school properties, protect them from any criminal activity and prevent the trafficking of illegal substances. The department is collaborating with the Department of Justice and Correctional Services, Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust, Sasol, Fundi and Old Mutual in this progressive endeavour: ‘Let’s Grow South Africa together!
