Mpumalanga MEC for human settlement sworn-in as acting premier

MEC Speedy Mashilo will preside in the premier's office until August.

Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane has appointed MEC of the Department of Human Settlements, Speedy Mashilo, as the acting premier for the period from July 25 to August 5. The appointment of Mashilo is in accordance with section 131 (1) (a) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

Mtshweni-Tsipane will be out of the country, attending the 24th International Aids Conference in Montreal, Canada.
The conference is a global HIV and Aids response which is attended by people living with and affected by HIV, scientists and policymakers.

The conference gives an evidence-based scientific research by galvanising the scientific response, build global solidarity and enhance human dignity for all those living with and affected by HIV. It further convenes, educates and advocate for a world in which the virus no longer presents a threat to public health and individual well-being.

The Premier will be accompanied by MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, the acting head of the Department of Health, Duduzile Mdluli, and Mpumalanga Provincial Aids Council chairperson, Sonto Nkosi.
