Mpumalanga school finish on third place and win Bronze.

St Mark’s defeated on the semi-finals of the National Winter games competition.

The end of the road came for St Mark’s soccer team after they were eliminated in the semi-finals of the National Winter Games.

The school defeated Western Cape 5-1 on July 12 in their opening match.

Their second game against Limpopo was played on July 13 and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Later that day, they played Gauteng and the game finished in a goalless draw.
The school then met Free State on July 14 and lost 3-0 in the semi-final encounter.

Coach Rewano Swarts said the lads displayed a sterling performance throughout the competition but minor issues cost them.
“Since the beginning of the competition the lads have been playing football that is out of this world. We punished when necessary, took advantage of every opportunity that was presented in every game, but in the semi-final we wasted numerous opportunities and failed to convert, which ultimately led to our defeat. We perished because we relaxed. The Free State boys utilised the element of surprise against us to score three goals,” said the coach.
