“We will be loading kilometres and testing ourselves on how long of the 60km we can endure. Most of the runners who will be training on the day, have already qualified for the marathon,” Shabangu said.

The training will start as early as 06:00 at the Halls Shell filling station in Mataffin. The runners will run from the filling station to White River along the Sabie Road towards Brondal and Lydenburg and back to Mataffin.

Shabangu said there will be entertainment after the training. “There will be a braai and runners can bring their children to enjoy the jumping castle and trampoline.”

He added that all runners are requested to make a R50 contribution towards the preparations of the day. Participants will be directed on how to pay on the day.
