A 25-year-old man will appear in Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping a male pensioner

 According to a press statement by Mpumalanga SAPS, the provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned this incident.

A 25-year-old man allegedly raped a 62-year-old male pensioner in Ga-Motibidi, Bushbuckridge on Monday evening, June 20.

Provincial police spokesperson Brig Selvy Mohlala said, “According to the information we have, on that day around 20:30 the victim alleged that he was relaxing in his house and the door was not closed. He then noticed a suspect known to him entering his room and he asked him what he wanted. The suspect then allegedly grabbed the victim and pushed him to the bed and raped him.”

According to Mohlala, after the incident the suspect took cash belonging to the old man that was on top of the table and left.

“The suspect was traced and arrested. He is expected to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court today, June 22 facing the rape charge.”
