Vox pop: Mbombela taxi operators and community members severely affected by fuel hike
Some taxi operators are scared that they will have fewer commuters as the petrol price increases.
Everyone has been affected by the petrol hike, including the taxi industry. Muntu Gama, of the South African National Taxi Council in Mpumalanga, said the council is afraid that it might need to also increase taxi fares, which commuters may not be able afford.

“We often get commuters who do not have enough money for their trip. We feel sorry for them, but allow them to travel with us, but now it will be really difficult to do so because of how expensive petrol is.”
